Flying Dutchman: Robin van Persie scored twice for United's reserves at Fulham
Robin van Persie scored twice as the Manchester United striker built up his fitness in the Under 21s' win at Fulham on Tuesday night.
The Dutchman made his return from an ankle injury with a late cameo in Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Everton after two months on the sidelines.
And Van Persie came through 81 minutes of the 4-1 win at Craven Cottage as United's young guns extended their lead at the top of the Under-21 Premier League table.
The former Arsenal forward broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when he latched on to an Andreas Pereira through ball before finishing clinically.
Joe Rothwell's double put them out of sight before Van Persie wrapped up victory for Warren Joyce's team late on.
The 31-year-old came through the game unscathed and his return to fitness is a big boost for Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal ahead of Saturday's clash with West Brom.
