BRITAIN'S deputy high commissioner to Nigeria Peter Leslie Carter has died of a heart attack after slumping and at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos.
Mr Carter had just arrived in Nigeria aboard a Delta Airlines from Atlanta, Georgia, where he had gone on an official trip when he passed away. His sudden death caused uproar at the airport as many feared that he may have died of the deadly ebola virus disease currently ravaging the country.
However, he was later confirmed to have died of heart attack and his remains were taken to a private hospital where he was officially declared dead. Eyewitnesses at the airport said that the medical personnel attached to the international terminal tried to revive him but without success.
Apparently, as he entered the arrival hall, Mr Carter began holding to his chest and screaming my heart and then subsequently slumped before health personnel could reach him. Very passionate about Nigeria, Mr Carter travelled the country extensively, meeting several governors as he toured the states.
